All about us
Helping Hands is a family business, started in 1986, and is committed to providing services of the highest quality. This commitment has not changed over time. Great emphasis is placed on providing the right service for each person, our teams are dedicated to supporting people in their local community.
From those very small beginnings, Helping Hands has flourished to the professional organisation it is today. We have 150 care staff working in their local communities throughout East Devon supported by a professional management team. All workers are directly employed by Helping Hands, we have a rigorous recruitment procedure to make sure that we only employ people who are caring and have the right qualities to work with people in their own homes. The training programme is extensive leading to nationally recognized qualifications.
The business is locally based and not part of a national organisation. Helping Hands is registered with the Care Quality Commission and is a member of the United Kingdom Homecare Association.
My story ……..
By Rosemary Witherby (Managing Director)
My passion and commitment for the services that Helping Hands provides is as a direct result of caring for my own mother. She was one of the first people to have complex drug treatments at home. The Royal Devon and Exeter hospital produced a video documentary, filming us as a family around the breakfast table, to show how you could live with cancer and be with your family at home. This has stayed with me throughout my career and we strive to provide services that are of the quality we would want for our own family
